Program Innovations

We are excited about a number of projects that have been recently launched. Here is a brief overview of these initiatives.

• Our acute care and primary care tracks for our senior residents! See the residency track page to learn more about these new clinical and mentoring experiences!
• Our modified X+Y scheduling for continuity clinic. See more on our Med-Peds clinic page!
• Our Med-Peds clinic has sustained a Patient Centered Medical Home Level III designation for over 6 years as an indicator of the commitment to team based patient care. We also continue to expand the quality improvement work that is occurring in clinic under the leadership of Dr. Ben Kinnear, our Associate Program Director for QI education.
• We continue to help build more Med-Ped private practices in town, and to assist in their growth. These practices are locations where our residents are able to do ambulatory electives and are often future career opportunities for those interested in primary care.
• We are utilizing the experiences from our residents and faculty members who are part of the Medical Education Pathway and our UC IMSTAR Medical Education Fellowship to innovate the way we teach our residents. These include an innovative procedure simulation training program, a “testing program” for learning, and personalized board study strategies.

While some of this may seem ambitious, we are looking forward to forging new horizons!
